Wish is a mobile e-commerce platform that offers a 100% mobile shopping experience. Founded by former Google engineers Peter Sculczewski and Danny Zhang, Wish is the sixth largest e-commerce site in the world, with more than 300 million monthly active users. With over five million registered customers, it has the potential to be the largest mobile e-commerce site in the United States. Its mobile app is now available in more than 50 countries and boasts over 5 million active users.

FarFetch is a mobile marketplace focused on luxury brands. The company is aimed at affluent consumers, and boasts over a million products with an average price of about $200. Founded in 2005, FarFetch has expanded to more than 1,300 brands in 190 countries. The company has an extensive eCommerce tech stack and sophisticated retail solutions. Bonanza is a marketplace aimed at sellers, and the homepage copy includes a statement, “welcome to the best selling website on the Internet.”

Although Newegg is relatively expensive and boasts several integrations, it is best known for its electronics category, but has expanded to other popular categories as well. Bonanza isn’t named after the 1959 Western film, but is rather a marketplace for sellers. The company’s homepage focuses on seller-centric branding, with copy such as, “Welcome to the best online selling platform.”

People always wonder what the antidote is to Amazon, an eCommerce empire that takes pride in ever-improving efficiency and using robots to replace humans. Maybe Poppy is our latest answer. Poppy is a fashion and lifestyle-focused marketplace. When you open the Poppy mobile app, which is the primary form of the user interface, you can explore thousands of unique brands with distinctive identities and various aesthetic choices. From indie yoga apparel brands to succulent gift boxes for birthdays, you can easily discover goodies to light up your day.

There is no other inspirational marketplace quite like this. Poppy has nearly 100 million products curated from all indie brands all over the internet. It is more like a “Shoppable Pinterest” or mobile-friendly “Google Shopping”. And it is an ever-growing platform with daily updates of 15,000 products.  So you may ask why we need another shopping platform like this? Why don’t we just all stick to Amazon?

In addition to being a brand-first mobile marketplace, Fruugo also features integrated eCommerce tools that allow its sellers to sell their products to international audiences. The company’s business model is built on a strong customer relationship with retailers and wholesalers. This model allows the platform to offer free delivery to customers from 46 countries worldwide. In contrast, the big-box retail model is not structured to deliver great experiences to their customers.
